Combining Colours

I was looking at the colours for July Altenew Challenge and didn't think that any of the inks matched perfectly. The green was more celadon than mint, and the browns were more rosy terracotta than pure terracotta. So I thought I should add some grey to the mint greens, and add pink to the browns.

So I came up with the idea of mixing 2 inks by stamping the image in one colour, then stamping again with the second colour. So I have 2 layers of colour giving me a new colour.

For the leaves, there were 2 layers of stamps :
  • Layer 1 : I used Mountain Mist, then stamped again in Limestone
  • Layer 2 : I used Volcano Lake, then stamped again in Silver Stone
For the flowers, some had 3 layers, some had 4 layers of stamps. You can stamp the different layers in the same colour and it will still make a difference because the second time makes it darker. So used the same 2 inks for layers 1 & 2, and then the darker 2 for layers 3 & 4 :
  • Layer 1 and 2 : I used Blush, then Sand Dunes
  • Layer 3 and 4 : I used Rouge, then Rocky Shore

I used a mix of the Blush and Sand Dunes, then spritzed when stamping the dots. The sentiment was stamped in Delicata Copper ink.

July CCC Reveal

I had taken a break from playing in the Card Chain Challenge since I was travelling, but I joined in again for the July.  It was the first time I sent a card to Greece to Mia.

See the full reveal at Card Chain Challenge, but here is my card. I followed the sketch and the theme of Twine.

CAS Quartet

I started playing with the flowers of the Alexandra Renke Welcome Butterfly set ... and I ended up with four cards!

I wasn't sure what I was going to do so I stamped 2 sets of the flower with leaf, and the 2 individual flowers.  The flowers had two tones of inks : started with the pale pink, then dabbed on a darker shade to the centre.

I like the curve of the flowers and leaf and thought it would look good along a frame.  I wanted to keep it light so used 2 of the Alexandra Renke Oval Angular frames.

The second card was inspired by the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. I wanted the bigger flower and cut out the leaves of the flower & leaf images.

Now that I had that little flower with 2 little leaves left ... and a tiny piece of ric rac ribbon, thought it was perfect for the CAS(e) This Sketch Challenge.

All I had left now was one big and 2 little flowers. Used the middle piece left over from the lace frame and added 2 die cut leaves.

Christmas Baubles

Going with the new slimline card size... I loved that I had lots of space to have the baubles hanging.

I used silver string to hang my baubles.

In order to hide the string behind, I made a little tag with the bauble that fell off the tree!

Christmas in July

My second Christmas card for this year.  Using the fun summery SSS Warm Christmas Wishes set - perfect for Christmas in July, and perfect for sending from Mauritius come Christmas time. It's a NBUS for me.

A little masking to keep it to a one layer card.

Some enamel accents to give the lights some pop.

Fun Girlfriends

I had a request for fun Birthday cards and my first thought was the Art Impressions Girlfriends!

Then I got this idea in my head that I wanted them peeping out beyond the circle. So that meant some serious fussy cutting.

I love adding paper piecing to this kind of image.  It gives that extra dimension and texture to the colouring.

More Mini Wishes

While I had the stamps out from this card, it was so much fun I had to make some more.  This time I went with the presents instead of the balloons.

And decided the road need not be so steep!
