More Watercolour Effects

Continuing with the watercolour effects of Kristina Werner, my friend and colour advisor, Bronwyn, said we must go with the oranges and reds. So this time I used Distress Inks : Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed.

And I remembered to spritz with water after applying the colours! And I used perfect pearls water to flick to created the splatter effect.

And I LOVE the effect.

I layered the word die, "enjoy" from Papertrey Ink, offsetting it to give a shadow effect.  You can see the shimmer of the perfect pearls on the splatters on the close-up.

I'm delighted with this technique and I can see myself using it again.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge, and the Colour Q Challenge.

Work it Wednesday

Inspired by Kristina Werner's Valentine Watercolour card, I decided to try my hand at it. However, since I am always drawn to blues, I started with Distress Inks : Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass. I forgot to spritz with water again after I had painted the ink on so it is not so blended as Kristina's card.

I stamped the Impression Obsession Flowers in black and added a touch of Black Wink of Stella to highlight the flowers a little.

More Knitting

Since I had a piece of my stamped knitting left over (from this card), I thought I'd better use it up.

I over-stamped the soft pink with Bubblegum pink. Matches the challenge colours better - for Curtain Call Challenge : Soft Scarf.

Sending Warm Fuzzies

My daughter is spending a year on an Erasmus Exchange in Uppsala Sweden .... and it's pretty nippy there at the moment.

Beautiful, but nippy!

Here she is all bundled up for a walk in the snow. (Great to have Whatsapp to get all the news and photos).

Quite a change from our tropical island.

The Curtain Call Challenge : Soft Scarf was perfect for inspiration for a card to send her.

The "knitted stitches" stamp is from WPlus9, but all the others and the hearts are from Hero Arts.

Breathe

If you have been following my blog, you'll know that blue is my favourite colour. So how could I resist the inspiration of Marion on the Muse Challenge #101 this week!

I did some Ombre shading (with the Inkspirational Challenge : Designer Choice Ombre in mind), splashed some water ... and flicked drops of Wink of Stella (that's the white spots). I baptised my NBUS Dictionary Stamp from Kaisercraft as background behind the border die, so will enter this into Darnell's NBUS Challenge too.

Lots of Dots

Love dots ... especially when you combine them with Distress Inks and some Wink of Stella!

Come and join in the fun ... and if you join the group, you can have a chance to win a $100 gift Voucher over on Barb's Blog : Enjoying Life. She is the administrator of the group and has generously offered this prize.

Travel

A quick post for ....

Friends

When I saw the Friends Challenge on Less is More, I knew I would use this new sentiment from Funny Bones - just love it. First time it is stamped so it will also be entered in the CAS-ology NBUS Challenge (Never Before Used Schtuff) and Darnell's NBUS Challenge. It's also the first time I've used the Unity ladies stamp, and the sketchy stamps from Papertrey Ink.

I will also enter this into the One Layer Simplicity Challenge of Opposites. My opposites are the solid stamp verses the light thin lined scribbles.

I'm also entering it to Uniko's Love and Friendship Challenge.

It's a Guy thing

Been away for quite some time! It's good to be back after an extremely HOT New Year week - I was just melting while just sitting.  So from that week ... and a glorious day on a Catamarran off the east coast ...

To this week being under threat of a cyclone! Been no school for 3 days. (Mauritius is the island closest to the eye of the storm, Reunion is on the left) So it has been rain, wind, rain, wind and more rain. Humidity must be at 98% - everything you touch feels wet.

But back in the craft studio, I've been trying to jazz up a tie for the It's a Guy Thing Challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. I used the WPlus9 tie die, and the Papertrey Ink Birthday Die with an assortment of grunge and arrow stamps.
