More Pretty Peonies

I am starting to do a wedding scrapbook for my friend. That's a major project and I only have a few weeks to do it, so I'm going to have to squeeze in card challenges here and there.

This one is for the Paper Players Sketch Challenge.

I had stamped the pretty peonies last week. Tonight I die cut them. While looking on my messy ping pong table for some supplies for the wedding album, I found some sticky domes. Perfect for putting on patterned paper to make an embellishment. The black stripes are washi tape.

Thoughts of you

A quick card for the Less is More : Newsprint Challenge. My book paper was quite aged and brown, so I swiped some Picket Fence Distress Paint over it to lighten it a bit. Still having fun with my WPlus9 Pretty Peonies, but this is the first time I have die cut them.

Christmas Stars

Had this card in my mind since I saw the sketch as CAS(E) this Sketch, as I have loved those 3D stars since I first laid eyes on them. I cut out the panel with my Silhouette Cameo ... and the stars too. You can even buy the one with the scorelines. I spray painted them silver and embossed them. The lovely background paper is from LOTV.

Another little Tweet

Another little bird card.

Inspired by the CAS(E) this Sketch, and Time Out Challenge : Birds of a feather flock together. (Oops - perhaps I should have had 2 birds on here!)

It's a Hoot

There are 2 bird challenges this week ...
... Time Out Challenge #17 : Birds of a Feather flock together
... Inkspirational Challenge #68 : Photo Inspiration

This Hero Arts Christmas Owl is such a hoot!

O how I love these stamps!

I think that these WPlus 9 Pretty Peonies may be my favourite stamps at the moment! So even when I am challenged with orange, I can still come up with a card.

This is for the Fusion Challenge. I went with both the inspiration picture and the sketch, and was inspired by the roses of course! It's funny how our minds work. I was working from "memory" and I could have sworn that those roses were more orange and less gold. Should have used Butter Bar instead of Soft Cantaloupe.

Garden Inspiration

It's spring in our part of the world, and one of the beauties are the Jacaranda trees. I have quite a few in my garden, and I love the soft lavender colour with the soft, pretty carpet it creates. It also makes me think of my Dad as it was his favourite tree.

I wanted to create a card inspired by this, when a friend arrived with her new Paper Smooches Botanicals stamp set, it had the perfect stamp. The sentiment is from Magenta. I love that the white space gives room to breathe to match the sentiment.

Oh Happy Day

I have this wonderful curved die from Simon Says Stamps for a while (it was the card on the product page that sold me on this!). Adding the inspiration from the Muse Challenge (loved the curved edges, and small sheep).

Added a bit of Frosted Lace Stickles to create the snow flurry behind the skis.

I got this far with my post and thought that a little more was needed near the sentiment. There is something about seeing your card on the screen that gives a different perspective. So I added 3 little snowflakes. Which do you think is better?

I will also enter this into the Less is More Little Creatures Challenge.

2 x Happy Birthday

I haven't played in one of the Scrap RDV challenges for ages, but I couldn't resist this colour challenge.

This is a one layer card ... I created the illusion of a shadow by sponging the borders. I added C1 copic to shadow the tabs. I was following the similar sketches from the Moxie Fab World : WCMD Challenge and Sketch Saturday.

You can see the shading here ... a the slight glimmer of the Wink of Stella on the star and red arrow.

This is also for the Less is More : One Layer Challenge ... keep it ONE LAYER, keep it CAS and include 2 of something, Virginia View Challenge : CAS and Crazy for CAS : One Layer Challenge.

I decided to change up my iphone cover with these colours too. I used a Silhouette iphone cover diecut, and covered it with washi tape.

Christmas Spirit

I couldn't wait to ink up my new Candy Cane Stripes from Impression Obsession. Added a Silhouette cut holly flourish, some Wink of Stella (holly), Glossy Accents (berries) and Diamond Stickles (border), with a dash of Copic C1 to add a little shadow.

Sentiment is Kaisercraft, inked in Colorbox Cranberry and embossed to tie in with the glossiness of the berries.

I will be entering this for the Festive Friday Challenge.

And the CAS-ology Candy Challenge (hope the candy cane stripe counts!).

PS. I little update on the tidying up ... not much done ... just sorted out more stamp sets into Avery Packets. I badly sprained my ankle almost 2 weeks ago, and then got a different additional pain 5 days later so have been off my feet with RICE treatment (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevation). Finally had an MRI today ... still waiting results.

So grateful

I'll be visiting my mother next month and wanted a special card for her. I also wanted to try Dawn's watercolour technique with the Pretty Peonies set (after I had used the 3 layers of stamps on this card).

I'm so grateful to my mother for all she is and all she does.
And to Dawn for showing us how to use our stamps in so many ways. I definitely will be making more cards with this technique.
I will enter this into the Susan's 2014 Thanksgiving Crusade and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge : Use Watercolors.

Sunflower Sunshine

I used Gold Pearl Embossing powder on the sunflower.

Submitting to 2 challenges :
the Fusion Card Challenge where I went with both the inspiration and the sketch

and
"Just Us Girls" Challenge.

Wobbly Card

Before we get on to the card ... an update on the tidying ... 0% progress! :(
Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

You see, it's so much more fun to create, especially when you discover Wobbly Cards! It's the challenge at Crazy for CAS. AND you have new stamps. Inking up the Pretty Peonies from WPlus9 for the first time. This is the bigger sister set to the Little Pretty Peonies that I used a few days ago.

I combined it with the inspiration of the Muse Challenge. I liked the flow of flowers down the one side.

Challenge for today!

The very big challenge for today ....

is NOT to get creative ....

I'm in the same boat as Julie Andrews ...

My stash has been sitting on the table tennis table for over a year now - and my son needs it back. He is doing table tennis as part of his Bacc!

So status this morning is ....

So got to bite the bullet and get sorting. Let's see how long it takes me.

Think ....

Combining 2 challenges here ...
my third and last entry for Less is More : Mostly Words Challenge
and
Tag You're It! Challenge

Mostly Words

Another card for the Less is More : Mostly Words Challenge.

I was actually looking for a tag die for another challenge, when I spotted these new PTI word dies .... and I got side-tracked! Couldn't resist giving them a try. I started at the top, gluing on the happy then painting with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink ... and letting some run down. Then I worked my way down the card with the other words in Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry and a mix of Squeezed Lemonade and Ripe Persimmon. Last touch was to open the new WPlus9 Little Bits set to add the "sequins" and give them some sparkle with Diamond Stickles.

I had thought of adding all sorts of things ... like paint splatter stamps, but then thought Less is More!

Such Fun!

I will also enter this to Virginia's View Challenge #8 : CAS as I've left lots of white space.

Pretty Peonies

Opening new sets of stamps at a rate of knots! This is the Little Pretty Peonies set from WPlus9. These sets are so versatile. I only used 2 of the 3 layers of the flowers in this card.

My entry for the Color Throwdown Challenge.

Spring Thanks

It's spring down here in the Southern Hemisphere ... and I love the colours of spring.

And can't keep away from the shimmer of Wink of Stella ...

My entry for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.

Also an entry to Susan's Thanksgiving Crusade. I especially love her challenge as it's not just to make the card, but to send it to someone.
