Fun Girlfriends

I had a request for fun Birthday cards and my first thought was the Art Impressions Girlfriends!

Then I got this idea in my head that I wanted them peeping out beyond the circle. So that meant some serious fussy cutting.

I love adding paper piecing to this kind of image.  It gives that extra dimension and texture to the colouring.

Summer Breeze

It's time for a change in season and a new CASology challenge.  The cue word is SUMMER.

Oh to stand outside in a summer breeze!

I kept it very simple by using only 2 colours.  On the first card, I used some paper piecing on her dress.

On this second card, I went with only colouring with Copics ... and my favourite ... blue!

Come and check on the creations of the design team and be inspired. Looking forward to seeing your take on the cue word.

A day of Sunshine

We have a new challenge at CASology Challenge.  This week's cue word is Glass.

I hesitated between wine bottles and sunglasses, and finally chose the latter. This little bird from Hero Arts is just so sweet.

I added some glossy accents to the sunglasses frames.

And popped everything up for lots of dimension on such a CAS card.

Pop on over to be inspired by the rest of the design team.

A little Something ...

A new CASology challenge starts today ... remember that we are having a two week challenge this time. We know life gets busy in summer.

The cue word is Cloud.

This just might be the whitest card I have ever made! But that pop of colour does make it cheerful.

Pop on over to the design team to get more inspiration.

A cup of Tea

I love my cup of tea ... or two ... or three. So I was delighted with the new Altenew Teacup set.

Here are my first three cards. Firstly, keeping it CAS in an ever so delicate pink, one with ric rac ribbon from May Arts, the other with twine.

I have lovely small design patterned papers from Lili of the Valley. I can see me using many of their designs with this stamp set. I added some shading to give more dimension.

CASology Guest Designer - Week 4

I have so enjoyed my weekly posts as guest designer this month, and although it has come to an end, I’m sure I’ll see you at the challenge each week.

I seem to be going through different techniques and products in the past weeks and this week’s focus is on patterned paper. It is not a natural tendency of mine to use patterned paper. When I started stamping 22 years ago, it was just stamps and ink without all the wonderful new products that are out there now, so often I forget to use patterned paper.

So I decided to do some paper piecing and besides being so much fun, it lets you use up the little bits that are left over from scrapping or other projects. I have gone with another Z-fold card. When I had finished my first Z-fold card a couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be great to use the grass die as the strip. So today's the day!

I used distress pens to give shadows and added white gel pen to highlight areas.

So here’s sending you all some Happy Thoughts … and a creative weekend.

Thank you Melissa and the CASology team for having me as the guest for October.

Had a wonderful day at book club today! What it is to have good friends, good books and good food all at the same time! Bliss!

And celebrating a Birthday too!

Love these ladies from Art Impressions ... and mixing Copics with paper piecing.

A note

A quick entry that I made for the Hero Arts Flickr group scramble on Saturday, but with the CASology Note challenge in mind.

The scramble theme was paper piecing and I used an inchie stamp. Really really small for paper piecing, but I love it anyway. It was the first stamp I ever used for paper piecing. The card is only 3.5 x 4.25"

Here was another take, with the 6x6" pp in the background.

If you have Hero Arts stamps, you are welcome to join in our next scramble in 2 weeks time. Go over to the Hero Arts Flickr group to check out the time - it's such a fun challenge! Gives you a great adrenaline rush!

Rescue Notes

I made my card, taking time to paper piece, paint, punch out some flags. I added a bead of Black Accents for the eye, and set my card aside to dry.

But then I notice that I hadn't drawn in the lines for the flags ... and my fuzzy mind totally forgot about "still drying" Black Accent eye! And I smudged it across the card. Aaaargh!

Wondering how I could rescue it, I thought of music notes.

Bird tweets!

Yay! I also had to add a circle punch out to cover the big eye smudge. Then I did another Black Accent eye. And put the card OUT OF REACH!

Lucky for me there is a Notes challenge as CAS-ology this week!

Tags CAS

I had my eye on the new Hero Arts Christmas tags. And decided they were just the thing for the Less is More (week 34) challenge.

June CCC Challenge

This months Lily Pad CCC really was a challenge for me  . . . the colours were not ones I use very often (well at least not together)

and the sketch had the sentiment at an angle (definitely way out my comfort zone).

But at the 11th hour, my mojo finally decided to get moving . . . and then it was FUN! I'm going to add 3 white pearls after the sentiment, so that on the inside of the card it will read "when shared with friends".

ATC Swop

I love getting the real thing so was definitely up for the Hero Arts Flickr group ATC swop. I was paired with Donna and we decided to make ATC's with the Starburst Lace and a bird. Just to see if it was possible to make different ones, I made 2 :
