Artsy Birthday Cake

What do you do when you have left over alcohol ink bits and pieces (like from this and this card)?

Cut them up and make a cake!!

Topped with some fancy letter candles.

Special Birthdays

When you have those big special Birthdays, you pull out the big guns to up the ante!

Adding a metallic touch gives it that special elegant style. I used Platinum Embossing powder and Platinum Liquid Pearls.

Some of the flowers were die cut and some fussy cut from the washi tape.

Here's a close-up of the metallic embossing powder.

Get Well Soon

My second week as guest designer at JUGS for the month of September.  This week's challenge is a trend ... stacking dies.

All the die cuts were done in white cardstock, then I coloured with Copics.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

I was challenged to make some cards without flowers ... and to make it fun.

Started quite CAS.

Then I thought I'd add some more fun.  The hat was way too big for the bird (fits the hippo perfectly). So I drew another black line to make it smaller - thanks Marilyn for the tip!

Which do you prefer?

Birthday Wishes

I'm very happy to be the guest designer at Color Throwdown this week.

I decided to stretch my stamps ... and used a Christmas set. By changing the colours, I turned a poinsettia into a sunflower.

I thank Greta for the brown frame die. She sent some die cuts with her Card Chain Challenge card.

Read ... bookmark in a card

I'm so happy to be the guest designer for the month of September at JUGS!

We start the month with the Word Challenge : School.

My niece loves to read, so I thought it would be great to send her a bookmark ... in a card.

I cut 2 slits in the front of the card so that the bookmark could slide through.

Gilding Flakes 1

I covered a piece of card stock with glue and applied gilding flakes.  Then I die cut a number of different shapes (words, circles, flowers) out of the sheet.

For my first card, I used a stencil with gold embossing paste to make the dots.

Here's a shot with the wonderful gold shimmer of the embossing paste and the gilding flakes.

Birthday Memories

It's good to use leftovers as soon as possible ... before they get added to the ever growing boxes of bits and pieces.

So I'm using the oval left over from this card. I distressed the edges with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.

The flowers are coloured with Copics.

Metallic Wishes

Sometimes when things don't go as planned and you need to "fix" it, then you come up with something more than you expected.  I had done some ink and spritz stamping that I hadn't sprayed enough water. So it had a blotchy finish where you could see the ink lines.  In order to hide them, I broke open my brand new gliding flakes.

Love the finish!

Trying to capture the wonderful shine on the gilding flakes ...
