Peace & Joy

A challenge a little out of my comfort zone - Black, White & Gold - especially for a Christmas card. Using my NBUS Paper Rose Little Angel Builder die & Delicata Gold refill ink. I painted it on the wings & halo, and splattered on the black background.

The Delicata Gold gives the perfect shine.

Watercolour Wishes

Using the ink and spritz technique to create a watercolour effect ... and I added some extra touches afterwards too. I used Delicata Gold refill ink to paint the star and baubles.

It's difficult to catch both the light on the gold embossed sentiment and the baubles on a slimline card.

Look at the wonderful shine of the Delicata gold!

Book Lover Birthday

Our book club has been going for 21 years and I keep a lookout for book related stamps.  The Hero Arts Bookcase stamp pairs up beautifully with their Pee-a-Boo die. So much fun.

I coloured with Copics.  Here's the front having being diecut.

But I thought that a birthday needs a message.  I couldn't stick a message over it as it would prevent a window from being opened.  So I decided that I needed something that could be opened.

I diecut the Lawn Fawn Happy Birthday and coloured with Delicata gold.  I mounted it on an embossed vellum. I found a lot of people don't like tying bows, so I decided to use the string tie system that just needs to be looped.

When was the last time you used a brad?!

Good to be using up the stash!

Here I've unlooped the gold string ...

With the windows open ...

I'm delighted to see the Matryoshka dolls (also known as Babushka dolls, stacking dolls, nesting dolls, Russian tea dolls, or Russian dolls) as 2 of our members have just been to Russia!

Leaping Reindeer

It's time for a new CASology challenge. This weeks cue word is LEAP.

A great way to keep a card CAS is to focus on the negative of the die cut. The paper I used behind has a slight gold shimmer which is difficult to capture.

Come take a leap and see the creations of the design team. Looking forward to seeing your take on the cue word.

Embossed Christmas

This is my last Christmas card posted for 2018.  It was the last one I made ... and I made 10 of them for the staff at my MIL's care home.

Inset Baubles

A little stamping in the negative background of a diecut.  I was inspired by Desiree's Card. My die was thinner, so I thought I'd use 2 of them.

I inked the border with Delicate Gold direct from the pad. The flowers are from the WPlus9 Be Merry Florals set.

Here's an angle where you can really see the metallic gold of Delicate ink.

Autumn Leaves

I'm trying to use up my my bits and pieces that seem to multiply faster than completed cards! I was tidying up and sorting by colours which I hoped would help me use them.

So the leaves, strip and fibres were in all my stash.

A CAS card inspired by Rebecca at Less is More ...

Popped up the panel with red foam. Lovely gold splatters made with Gold Delicata refill ink.

M for Mom

It's not so easy doing the watercolour alpha painting.  I started with the large Monogram and chose M for my mother.

I used wordmark.it to pick a letter M from the fonts on my computer. Absolutely love this website. Saves me so much time when trying to choose fonts. You type in the the letter, word or phrase that you want, and it shows that in all the fonts on your computer. Simply marvellous.

This is my second attempt.

I added the blue-grey shadow line, and then added a gold one using Delicate Gold refill as paint. Sentiment is from Penny Black.

This is my first attempt ... used too much water. Not sure if I laid down too much to start, or whether my paint was too watery. So the paints ran into each other and got some brown spots. Also not so keen on the "blooms" either. All a learning curve.

Inlays and Baubles

I was so taken with Ardyth's inlays, thought I'd give it a try. I don't have any flourish dies so thought I'd use the Ellen Hutson pine branches. Oh my! Not a wise choice, especially as I thought I'd be clever and do one branch behind the other. This is not for the faint-hearted.

I used some very fine glitter paper that I discovered at a local store, adding Copic colouring to deepen colour on the back pine branch and the bottom of the sentiment. The gold on the ornaments is Delicate gold refill ink - painted on. Love that ink!

Happy thoughts

Happy thoughts to you all ... it's the weekend and we can get inky.

Trying to catch the lovely glimmer of Delicata Gold.

Inspired by Ardyth's card for the Time Out Challenge.
