Blended Background

I've just received the Avery Elle Wonky Rectangle Frames! Yay! Had to use them as soon as possible.  I didn't even separate them.  I cut 2 sets so I could glue 2 together to make them more raised.

This is the first of 3 cards - using the largest frame.

I started by stamping and embossing the background flowers in white. Then I used my lovely new Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes to apply the Distress Oxides.

The Sea

Welcome to the new CASology Challenge. Our cue word this fortnight is WATER.

I'm using my NBUS stamp from Picket Fence called Ocean Waves.

Come and check on the creations of the design team and be inspired. Looking forward to seeing your take on the cue word.

A Mini Card Set

I was given a blank set of mini cards from a friend (2½" square).  When I opened the pack, I discovered that the cards were made with glossy paper.  A wonderful opportunity to use alcohol inks.

I cut the cards in half so I could use the front and back for my cards. I mounted them on white cards.

I then added die cuts and washi tape to the alcohol inks backgrounds, with the exception of the butterfly and seahorses, which were stamped.

I first played with mixes greens, blues and a touch of silver.

Then I moved on to oranges and reds.

These 2 were with reds and browns.

A Touch of Blue

I love getting inspiration from others then seeing where it will take me.  I started with this card by Steffi - love that triple layered flower.  First I pretty much replicated it, but with the supplies in my stash.

I was trying a different embossing paste, and it turned out more cream than white. Then I decided to add some bits and pieces that were already on my desk... cream leaves, the frames left over from this card. I mounted it with beige foam to give extra interest.

Lucky these cream gems from Pretty Pink Posh had just arrived. A perfect fit.

Watercolour dots

A quick masculine card. Ink and spritz the dots, and add some interest with the wonky spoked circles, with liquid pearls.

My other trick is to flatten the enamel or liquid pearl drops once they have dried. Great for a masculine card.

Celebrating you

I love being inspired by cards on the interwebs, and then either CASe it, or switch it up a little. Then as I create, one card inspires another.

Besides the challenges below, I was inspired by THIS card by Agnieszka Malyszek.  I didn't have the same products, so I used what I had on hand.  I used the Sketched Stripes Background stamp from Concord & 9th instead of the striped stencil.  I embossed it in white and used distress inks to give it a watercolour effect.(I can't show you the first card I made as it needs to reach the recipient first - but I'll post it once it arrives.)

Then I made a second card as I had bits and pieces left over from different projects.

This is it!
