SSS Flickr Challenge "Let's Color" 1 & 2

I thought I'd share the first 2 cards I did for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge.  Both of these use the Sketch Flowers set but with such different results.

Firstly, I went with white embossing powder and coloured with Distress inks as watercolour. I cut out the one side so I could have an embossed background peeking through.

For the second one, I used Platinum embossing powder. Coloured with Copics - only 3 colours W1, W2 and W3.

A day of Sunshine

We have a new challenge at CASology Challenge.  This week's cue word is Glass.

I hesitated between wine bottles and sunglasses, and finally chose the latter. This little bird from Hero Arts is just so sweet.

I added some glossy accents to the sunglasses frames.

And popped everything up for lots of dimension on such a CAS card.

Flowers and Berries

While scanning through my Christmas stamps, I cam across this lovely poinsettia flower from Magenta which hasn't seen ink for quite some time. And then it all came together step by step...

• stamped, embossed and watercolored with distress inks
• wanted a gold border
• decided that the kraft brown looked lovely with the watercolour
• needed to add a red border to make the gold one stand out
• embossed the kraft to give some texture
• wanted to add some beads to give the idea of berries

Simon Says Stamp Colouring Flickr Challenge

I am so happy to be a guest designer for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge this week. The theme is "Let's Color" in honor of Kathy Racoosin and her 30-day colouring challenge at The Daily Marker. So you can enter 2 challenges at the same time!

I decided to do 3 different ways of colouring : 

• Distress inks as watercolour, 
• Copics and 
• Prismacolor pencils

Set of Kindness Cards

I've had this set stamped up and sitting there in the stash of unfinished cards for months! I've finally got rounded to colouring them with Copics.

I had stamped them in Memento Rich Cocoa. I should have noted which Copic colours I used in each, but I forgot. Sorry!

I love the peach and red combination.

This is most probably my second favourite.

Tried with different colours for the flowers and berries.

As I love blue and brown, I gave it a try, but I didn't have enough colours.  I think I should have gone with the more turquoise tones.

Another week whizzes by and it's time for a new challenge at CASology. This week the cue word is compliment.

I wanted something bright and bold to balance the big sentiment. I painted a rainbow of colours with Distress inks.

I added some Nuvo Glitter Gloss to give that lovely shimmer.

Beautiful Blues - October CCC Reveal

It's time for the October CCC Reveal. With my love of blues, I had to go with the colour combination and then went with the sketch as well. My card went to Helen in Ohio.

After using a border punch and stamping the sentiment and it embossing in white, I distress the panel with Distress Oxides in Blueprint Sketch. I also embossed the flowers in white, but painted with Distress Inks, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire, as I love the transparency of them.

Blue Bird

Bringing out one of the cute Penny Black Christmas birds and the lovely fine Alexandra Renke dies, with some embossed vellum.

Love the effect of embossed vellum ... and added some Frosted Lace Stickles.
