Shimmery Butterflies 1 ...

My friend Bronwyn came stamping today with a whole stash of wonderful butterflies. She had inked up a craft sheet with Distress Inks, spritzed with Perfect Pearls and smooshed the paper into the ink. When it was dry, she die cut the butterflies. Then she flicked some Delicata Gold refill ink over. It gives such a lovely shimmer.

Of course, I chose of the blue/green ones! Paired it with a Papertrey Ink Smoosh sentiment.

This is one of the wonderful dies that came with my spanking Brand new Big Shot Plus! So happy. I die cut white cardstock, spritzed the gold sections and watercoloured the green piece.

August CCC

I was a bit late in sending my August CCC - just couldn't get into my craft studio! (Renovations, kids home from university, ....)

I was inspired by the sketch and colours.

I flipped the sketch a bit - those rays made me think of things pouring out. I used my silhouette to cut out the jug, and typed up the sentiment.

Geometric designs

It's amazing how often different challenges overlap - it's like some kind of common wave-length of inspiration. This week Virginia's Challenge : Geometric Designs ties in well with inspiration of the Runway Challenge : Michael Kors.

Going with geometrics is a good time to go for a masculine card. The hexagons are popped up on foam and I added an enamel dot. I like the way the sentiment fits into the space between the hexagons.

Card Scramble #117 - No 2.

LaVon was running the Hero Arts Card Scramble #117 and she gave us the 3 sketches which were from the August 2012 Hero Arts Challenge.

I first went with the circle sketch, making a die inlay card. I think it may be the first one I've ever made. I first watercoloured cardstock with Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed). Gave a spritz of Perfect Pearls. Dried and die-cut. I inked up the card front with Picked Raspberry using direct pad to paper so that it was lovely and vibrant. Sentiment is from Altenew.

This is so completely different from the first card I made with this die. I will enter it in the Hero Arts Makeover Challenge.

Card Scramble #117 - No 1.

Whew! It really was a scramble tonight. But that was because I got greedy and wanted to do 2 cards!

LaVon was running the Hero Arts Card Scramble #117 and she gave us the 3 sketches which were from the August 2012 Hero Arts Challenge.

For the second card, I went with the panel sketch. I wanted to make a more masculine for my son who starts university next week.

Watercoloured the background piece with Distress Inks : Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Salty Ocean. Then stamped and embossed the Scattered Dots and embossed in Platinum. Added dots with white gel pen the centers. The metallic brad gives a more masculine feel.

After the scramble I went back to see if I'd played in the 2012 Challenge.  I had ! So I will enter my "dreams" card in the Hero Arts Makeover Challenge. Here is my card from 3 years ago.

Bold Bloom

I'm getting inky as much as I can this weekend !

I loved the colours over the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge, and tied it with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

  

It was bugging me that the 3 enamel dots looked like eyes and a nose, but I thought just leave it.

But I couldn't ! So I've rearranged them.

Better, don't you think?

Spray, Stencil, Star - 2

Using the sprayed stencil from the previous card, I made another. I think I actually prefer this one as the sentiment stands out more. Even though I had let the spray on the stencil dry too much, I like the effect as it reminds me of the red stripes of candy canes.

Watercolouring with Distress Inks, stencils and stamps!

I really didn't think this would work out so well. I painted water through the stencil lines, then added Distress inks. I thought the water and paint would leak under the stencil and just make a big mess. But, lo and behold, not too bad. I think I will be trying this again.
