Fortune favours the Brave

We all need some encouragement in our lives and especially if we need some courage to face difficulties.

I've used Copics to colour a circle floral die cut, which I then cut to use just 2 smaller pieces.

Let's see what you can come up with for this week's CASology Challenge #268: Fortune!

Watercolour Flowers 2

I haven't given up on using the ink and spritz technique to give a watercolour effect.

This time I went with Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet. The stamp is from Club Scrap, and although I've had it for a while I have never used it before.

For the challenges ...

Watercolour Flowers

I can't get enough of the watercolour flower set from Altenew. I could spend all day trying out different colour combinations.

I wanted to combine a cornflower blue with a purple, but Distress Inks don't have that blue. First I tried with Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire, but it is rather sombre. So not all combinations work the way you envisaged!

So then I gave up using the ink and spritz technique and went with layers and the Altenew inks.

This is inspired by the Muse Challenge #234 made by Kim Heggins :

  • Her colours
  • Her design and placement
  • Using layered stamps

Just my Cup of Tea

I'm a tea drinker! Love my pot of tea at least twice a day. My mother bought me a beautiful Royal Doulton Memory Lane tea set for my engagement present all those years ago. I'm so happy that I still have the full set and you can imagine how much I love it as I love blue so much.

So my card is inspired by this pretty set.

I've used the largest Hero Arts tea cup die, and got a little sneaky by using the MFT bowl die, from Bedside Comfort set, to cut out the handle space. You can see it better on my second card below. The roses (Altenew Vintage Teacup set) were stamped in a soft blue and then coloured with Prismacolor pencils in the no line colouring method.

What large dies do you have? Why not use one for the CASology Challenge : BIG

I enjoyed it so much, I had to make another using some of my favourite paper from Lili of the Valley.

WPlus9 Flowers

I have been waiting for this Kind Soul set from WPlus9. It was so popular that it was sold out in no time.  You may be seeing more cards with these flowers soon - just love them. Coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

Watercolour Silhouette

I've just received the Tim Holtz Wildflower silhouette dies ... perfect timing for the CAS Watercolour Challenge : Silhouette.

The background was created with Distress Oxides and Distress inks. I love the light.

CASology #266 : Cake

Time for cake! This week's CASology challenge is CAKE. Who can resist a good cake? What is your favourite?  I think mine is carrot cake, or my grandmother's Cinnamon topped cake.

Coloured with Prismacolor Pencils.

I added Liquid pearls to make some delicious looking frosting, and layered the cake to give dimension.

So special

Playing with Altenew stamps, stencils and dies for the Altenew September Challenge.  I cut two dies of the flower. I used one to stamp the flower, and the other I coloured the left bottom edges grey with Copics. I glued them offset to create a shadow. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

Rustic Florals

The Card Concept Challenge #77 with the rustic door made me think of dry brushing. So I started with a piece of kraft paper and dry brushed white acrylic paint. Add a few flowers and voila!

Also following the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #304

Rainbow colours

I had a small strip of the rainbow paper I had painted for this card, so when I saw the Time Out Challenge, it was perfect starting point. I loved Bev's inspiration card, and her new card. I focused on her rainbow colours in stripes, floral image and white space.

Here are her two cards.

CASology #265 : Education

The first person who gets to educate us is our mother! And our fathers too. And this quote is certainly true. I'm sure you have found yourself saying what your mother has said ... whether the words are good, bad or funny! Then it's your turn to listen to your children repeat your words.

What do you find yourself saying and thinking, "That's what my mother always said"?

Inspired by Lisa

I was so delighted to see THIS card of Lisa's as I have someone who needs all these encouraging words. So I had to CAS(E) it and make my version of it. I decided to create the background watercoloring with Distress Inks.

But it needed a bit more definition, so I decided to cut it in strips and leave a little space between each sentiment.

I die cut little hearts and then added Ranger Liquid Enamel Accents on top - makes it easier to get the heart shape.

August CCC

August has come to an end, so we can reveal our cards that were sent for the August Card Chain Challenge. Mine went off to the founder of this challenge ... Deborah Nolan.

I pretty much followed the colour scheme and the sketch.

I was having so much fun with this watercolour technique that I made a bookmark too.

Come and join in the fun ... you have until Wednesday 6th September to sign up for this month.
