Changing Reader ....and Wedding Card with a difference

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I normally handle change ok, but I haven't been too happy with Google Reader about to go offline.  But what choice do we have?!

So on to happier things ... a wedding card! A friend got an invitation that was in a form of a passport to the United States of Marriage. She wanted to give a wedding card that was an embarkation ticket. This is what I made ...

Moxie Trigger ... Petits Fours

I just love this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

I knew I was going to use the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch. And I punched enough to make 2 cards.

The first I followed the inspiration pretty much .... replacing the spatula with a sentiment. The flowers are sponged with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick.

On the second I was just using the leftovers ... I wanted to see the effect if I sponeged with Spun Sugar and painted on the Worn Lipstick.

Old Maids

We've been sharing over in the Hero Arts flickr group about stamps that we own, but have never been stamped ... virgin stamps ... and if they're over six months in your stash then they're old maids!

I bought this sentiment set, for the saying "happy thoughts" because I sign my letters and emails that way. But when I want to add it to the card, it never fits!

I have also been playing around with watercolours. Even though I have been using watercolour paper, I have not been getting the effect I want. Need to play a lot more.

The first is my favourite . . . the watercolour background, 2 stamps of the wild grass, 3 dragonflies and the sentiment. Lovely sprinkles from Annabelle stamps.

In the second I searched through my stamps to find something that followed the curve of the watercolouring. Originally I was going to put the sentiment at the top, but then decided it was better in the white space below. But it didn't fit! So I just stamped it on the card stock below and matched them up.

I will enter these into the Moxie Fab Wonder of Watercolour Challenge.

Dreamy Day

For Less is More challenge 117, Sketch #9

I used my silhouette to cut out the windows and clouds. Painted a watercolour background and mounted the clouds and card front to give dimension. Printed the sentiment.

"A-ok" OLW Card

For the OLW136 challenge by Ardyth : Use elements on your card that begin with A. It could be a word, a colour, an image, a technique or even an embellishment (remember not too many of those!)

I went with ...
Amazing
Ampersand
Adorable
Arrows

in colours of
Aqua
Amber and
Aubergine (eggplant)

and was supposed to put asterisks too, but the little stamp went AWOL!

Went back to start on next card ... and found my asterisk stamp. yay.

So here's the update. (I photographed it flat as the bling shone more!)

Runway Inspiration

The Runway Inspired Challenge is Reem Acra Fall 2013.

I liked the white lights showing in the background. So I stamped a white panel and mounted it with foam. Embossed the sentiment in white on black and added white accents.

Muse 13

For the Muse Challenge #13

I saw 3 flowers with solid petals with white edges, dots around.

So I cut out 3 flowers and some leaves in a design on my white card using my new silhouette cameo (which I love .... cuts like butter!). I put pp behind adding some details with prismacolours and added Hero Arts dots on top.
